the MAGIC LAMP

Into the wardrobe, I led the little weary bird and that simple coy in my pursuit of Prince Caspian. They were clueless, helplessly innocent of what Narnia is. Both are even afraid to enter this world, both shares the same reason that the pain isn’t worth it. They both failed once and many other ‘once’ in their separate lives that both seem to choose to abstain from chasing and they live happily ever after if the way there would be through dungeons and fire breathing dragons. But here am I, dragging them into it, again.

Narnia isn’t a foreign land, I grew up seeking this and now that I have found it, I am far more willing to make maps a thousand times and give them to this bird and her coy acolyte. I’d push them, even, into the wardrobe off to Narnia if I have to, just to let them see that the snow queen has gone and summer sunshines and shinny billboards are once again dancing in its blue warm sky.

I have found prince Caspian, my charming charmer; they have lost theirs. But that doesn’t mean that they should dread this land, the lion shall forever guide them, I know for it has guided me so long. And the dwellers shall sing and the trees would dance, so shall the flowers that would tell them where to go; if only again they are able to muster the strength to step into and walk the wilderness of this land.

Life’s such a bore in this towering grey summer house overlooking those dimly lighted artificial moons, especially now that traffic and nagging bosses not to mention the rain is killing us. Narnia sounds more fun; horseback riding, cheering crowds and not to mention the sun that dances would definitely keep a soul beating and a heart living. I just hope that my friends know that there is more than just pain and pain some more in this kingdom, I just hope that they again muster the strength and the faith that somewhere here lays prince Caspian, their prince Caspian.

For now I guess it would be enough that I have shown them the lamp, living them there in the woods with that lamp might help them see, that Narnia as I see it now is a fairytale that has come to live.

Oh mister lamp, please make my friends little weary bird and simple coy to see that happy ever afters happen and that they usually happen when we have an open eye and an open heart. (happy sigh)

*** ps, don’t rationalize this blog, metaphors abound ;p

  1. you know what's beautiful about metaphors? they just don't tickle the heart.. metaphors are like the magic kisses of prince charming to sleeping beauty and the princess' kiss to the frog prince.. metaphors allow us to have the strength to open our eyes and see the "narnia" out there.. to believe in the light of the "magic lamp".. or even still, have the heart to embrace "ever afters" again..

i believe little weary bird is aware of all these.. i guess she's just preparing herself for the "next please".. or if not, maybe she'll find contentment as well even with artificial moons, rainy days..

simply coy may have her own reasons too.. in time, the story may change..

just like our friend courageous deviant, he may not see the ever after he longs for, but who knows, ever-afters can have different versions too..
