Once there was a young man who stumbled upon a cursed black pearl in his farm’s thirsty soil.
The pearl brought him real delight that he burst into tears. But even more enchantment was brought by his discovery that then on, whenever he cries his tears turn into shiny white pearls.
For long he and his wife suffered the curse of poverty, but not anymore.
Through his tears he acquired wealth, power, fame – and with it, the thirst for more, even more.
The story could have ended with and they lived happily ever after.
But it didn’t.
The ending goes…
As tears run, wealth runs into great heights, that one day his servants found a mountain of pearls in front of his mansion, and he, the master was atop. The servants went havoc when they saw blood run down from the pile of pearls, and so they climbed.
And there saw their master, the once impoverished young farmer holding his dead wife and a dagger on his blood washed hands.
How much are we capable of sacrificing for our own joy?
How far are we ready to go to pursue happiness?
Sometimes we live, we breathe at the expense of others.
Sometimes we smile, we laugh – and for what it’s worth?
Sometimes we hurt others so to feel our own personal pain to fade.
Sometimes we take things; we take people away from others so to keep for ourselves.
Selfish. Self satisfying brats, sometimes that’s what we are.
Guess I’m talking to myself aloud, again.
