I grew up in the suburbs, back when such name doesn’t yet exist.
Life there is simple. Houses are serene and the yards are green.
As a kid, I used to play in our yard which nestles a good number of trees and shrubs and all those green little stuffs that my mom knew by heart. Of them all, what I loved most was the good old pomelo tree where a good old worn truck tire hangs as a make shift swing. When things get caught up (that means I’ve been naughty again) or when I would just have to pass the time; I would usually hang around there. Swinging, feeling that swift rush of air and the adrenaline that gravity pulling me creates.
I was a kid and defying gravity was a cool thing.
I was a kid and swinging was heaven-sent.
It has been three years now since I moved into this big busy world of city life, and it has been that long since I did swing, since I tried to defy gravity. Pero alam mo, when things get caught up here, just like tonight, I wish I am back home… swinging.

Madalas I would wish that I am back home.
Star-lit night, fireflies in the air, crickets making that familiar sound, wet Bermuda grass on my toes…
and that good old worn tire swing swinging in the crisp of the cold night…
I wish I am a kid again, innocent of the many grown-up stuffs, I wish I can let time pass again by just swinging and trying to defy gravity.
and so from tonight…
imma make my swing, I don’t care if it’s at the pent or at the garage,
basta for tonight, imma swing…
I’m gonna try defying gravity…
